There are two factors that aid in the success of your website as far as search engines go. The first factor is your ranking. The second is the volume of people visiting your site. If you know how to translate traffic into sales, big dollar signs of profit are in your future.

These five tips to build traffic will work for you.

Implore your visitors to return. The least difficult way to go about getting traffic is bringing back those who have already visited once. To bring them back to your site, give them the option to sign up for regular information mailers. Links in these mailers can bring them back to your site on a regular basis.

Second, you should submit your website to the directory DMOZ and to the search engine/directory Yahoo. Both of them often send their results to meta search engines and smaller directories. Thus, by being indexed with DMOZ and Yahoo, you will get traffic not only from those two major websites but from many smaller associated websites as well.

Draft compelling content. The foundation of your website is the content it delivers. Write articles that are attractive and interesting. If people browsing the web discover articles they really enjoy, they’ll be more likely to link to your page. Interested readers will also be repeat visitors.

Be featured. Seek out websites and directories that are willing to feature your listing indefinitely, providing that you measure up to certain criteria. Familiarize yourself with their terms and conditions, and make sure your website meets all their standards. If it does, your listing is likely to be at the forefront of the search area.

Be sure that you are visiting the most updated blogs on the Internet. When visiting other people’s blogs, be sure to leave a relevant comment. More visitors will be encouraged to visit your website if your thoughts or responses are solid.
