    When you hear the word ‘hypnosis’, you typically think of a doctor dangling a swinging watch in front of a patient or a comedian on stage ‘hypnotizing’ people to do funny things. While this type of hypnosis is useful, there are many other uses of hypnosis, including one that you can use to persuade people without them even realizing you are doing it. It’s called conversational hypnosis, and even you can use it to convince people of anything you want!

    Man has actually used this type of hypnosis for quite some time, you may have even had it happen to you and were unaware because it is so subtle. That’s because you won’t have someone asking you to count backwards or swinging a watch in your face, you can actually put people into a state of hypnosis or autosuggestion simply with the words you use and they way you use them in normal every day conversation.

    Conversational hypnosis is an interesting means of ’selling’ or swaying someone to your side, It simply uses conversational techniques to magnify the art of persuasion and lower the defenses of your subjects conscious or critical mind and get right into the subconscious which will be more open to your suggestions. This is much like what we do every day - try to persuade your co-workers to go with your idea, try to get someone to do you a favor or to get agreement on something. The difference is that if you knew the techniques of conversational hypnosis you would get them to agree a lot more often!

    You can use conversational or, as it is sometimes called, covert hypnosis on one person or on a whole crowd of people. It uses intonations, language patterns and vocal timing to influence others. It can be learned easily by anyone and can be used in most situations. People that use it are able to engross their subjects in what they have to say, hypnotizing them into empathy and respect and changing their minds easily and readily into agreement.

    In fact, perhaps the most interesting use was by Dr. Milton Erikson who used conversational hypnosis to help his patients in the 1940’s and 1950’s because hypnosis itself was banned. However, someone let the cat out of the bag and Dr Erikson was called to a disciplinary hearing by the American Medical Association. Ironically, he was able to emply these techniques on the doctors of the AMA and instead of taking away his license, the charges were dropped and the next year the AMA dropped the ban on hypnosis allowing it to be used by any doctor who wanted to!

    While some may see conversational hypnosis as a way of manipulating people, it can also be seen as simply a more persuasive use of conversation. While some will try to use it for bad purposes, there is no need to be afraid of it since your subconscious will never allow you to be forced into anything that would bring you harm. You can use it effectively to get what you want - be it getting someone to agree with your opinion, implement one of your ideas or even buy one of your products. It is a tool that can allow you to enjoy life and get everything you ever wanted, while also making the lives of those you care about better too!

    The most significant affair in this life is our health and well being and we should do everything that we can to maintain the right balance. Unquestionably other things are crucial too, we need an liberal amount of money to survive in society, we require love and shelter in order to sustain a healthy level of life, but in one author’s opinion, no one thing is more crucial than our health and well being. In order for me to make such a bold statement, I’ll of course offer a bit more in-depth in insights.

    While my opinions are my own, they do contain some substance and are not simply ramblings. I was forunate to have (or had) a good friend whose focal point in his life money, this did not make him a negative individual, quite the reverse is true, many times he would come to me in times of need with a helping hand, yet he is now gone from this world, he lost his health and then his life. This of course is a rare example and I certainly do not want to color this article with despair, rather insights for life.

    This is not a discussion for spiritual topics, yet I believe unquestionably that the spirit continues and this this journey is amerely rehearsal for the next; that said I have full intentions to enjoy my journey 110%, savoring, breathing in every molecue of air, feeling the excitement of the blowing wind in my hair and the beauty of a crimson twilight. When it’s my time to go, I’ll walk unafraid to my maker, but until then, I want to walk unflinchingly across the land and this can only be done with my health.

    One skeptic pondered! ‘Why is health more important than wealth?’

    In my humble opinion, with our health and wellbeing we can go all-out, we can produce a living, we can generate resumes, go on job interviews, pursue our dreams, tackle new endeavors, live up to and exceed our expectations, but only if we possess the vigor and well being to persevere. Where I sit now pondering this, I’m overlooking the water, it is quiet and serene and my thoughts are unburdened and can meander and soar, but my thoughts are fueled by my energy and my energy by proper nutrition, exercise and a positive outlook on my life; again, all this is fueled by excellent health.

    Every evening as I lay down to sleep, I think helpful thoughts, I perform deep breathing, I connect with God (yes I believe He exists), and I thank him for my strength, but I do not take it for granted, I work to keep it that way. Every morning (and I do not get up early, tending to write late into the night) I’ll do a series of limbering movements and lite aerobics to speed up my heart rate. I’m lucky, I have good genes, my mother lived to a ripe old age and my grandmother nearly the same, I learned these routines and I do not take them, nor my health for granted.

    I guess I’m somewhat on a soapbox, having recently lost two close friends; two friends I thought the world of, but two friends who are now gone from this plane of existence. I do not mourn for these friends; knowing they now soar in the stars, but I miss them and wish they were still here with me.

    If there is any moral to this, it is simply to be thankful for the life that is given you and to cherish it. While I can give you no unambiguous clue as to what will occur when we pass from this life, I can offer this advice.

    Live your life to the fullest, and appreciate every breath that you breathe.

    Now more than ever, scientific surveys are confirming the fundamental responsibility played by stress in triggering or aggravating many psychological and somatic afflictions. In the June 6, 1983 issue of Time Magazine, the cover story labeled stress “The Epidemic of the Eighties.” The article also mentioned that stress is a leading health issue. Indeed it is indisputable that our world has become a lot more complicated and stressful in the past two decades since that article was published.

    Numerous surveys indicate that almost everybody perceives themselves as being subject to a lot of stress. Authorities in the field estimate that 75 to 90 percent of all visits to PCPs (Primary Care Physicians) are for stress related problems.

    Most adults report that their job is the main cause of their stress. And stress levels have also soared in children as well as the senior population because of several reasons including: Peer pressures that often lead to everything from smoking to drug and alcohol abuse; the wearing away of religion and family values; increased crime rates; fear for personal safety; but also social isolation and loneliness.

    Stress can be responsible for conditions such as diabetes, ulcers, low back and neck pain, hypertension, strokes and heart attacks. This is because of the ever growing sympathetic nervous system activity along with a high level of cortisol, adrenaline, and other hormones. Chronic stress is co-morbid with lower immune system resistance. Stress can be responsible for anxiety, depression, and its different effects on one’s organs.

    The American Heritage Dictionary defines “stress” as follows: “To subject to physical or mental pressure, tension, or strain”

    The following definition is given for “tension”: “Mental, emotional, or nervous strain”

    It defines “anxiety” as follows: “A state of uneasiness and apprehension, as about future uncertainties”

    And the following is the definition of “depression”: “The condition of feeling sad or despondent”

    It defines “clinical depression” as follows: “A psychiatric disorder characterized by an inability to concentrate, insomnia, loss of appetite, anhedonia, feelings of extreme sadness, guilt, helplessness and hopelessness, and thoughts of death.”

    One thing is for sure, our thoughts are the primary cause of our feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. In other words, what we think about, and our attitudes and points of view about our experiences strongly influence what we feel. That way, if we can manage to alter our thoughts, attitudes, and points of view, we can be relieved of our feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression and replace them with a better state of being.

    People have always sought out methods that would allow them to eliminate stress. With the pharmaceutical industry there seems to be a drug for everything. And to that end the industry has produced a large array of anxiolytics from Valium to Xanax. If you choose to utilize drugs for relief, please make sure that you read the fine print and learn about the side effects, which commonly are, among others, addiction and dependency. Unfortunately, these kinds of drugs attempt to cure the symptoms, instead of the cause. So if one stops ingesting them, the symptoms can return.

    A smarter method to get rid of tension, stress, anxiety, and depression is to work on its actual cause, which as I wrote before, is generally our thought processes. Here is good news. The essence of hypnosis is relaxing. The AMA accepted hypnosis in 1958 as an effective way to cure stress and stress related symptoms. But unlike anxiolytics, there are no bad side effects.

    When you enter hypnosis, you are in the Alpha level of consciousness. It is the daydream like temporary psychological mindset which we go through as we are just about to fall asleep in the evening. And we go through it another time when we awaken again. There are several different ways that will help us guide ourselves into this state of tranquility, from step-by-step relaxation to visual imagery to listening to hypnosis CD’s.

    When we enter the hypnotic state, we are able to interact with our unconscious mind, which is the seat of our emotions. And one can more easily accept new points of view and ideas which can help us to reduce anxiety, or even avoid it in the first place.

    Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP, which is a modern sort of hypnosis, has numerous wonderful techniques for dissipating stress. Maybe the most effective technique is called the “swish” pattern - or the “flash” pattern. When you use the “flash” pattern, your unconscious will automatically use bad, stress producing mental pictures, to generate relaxing mental pictures. Put differently, what generally makes you feel stress will now trigger relaxation!

    TO SUM UP Our thoughts can cause depression, anxiety and tension. So if we change our attitude and the way we feel about our situation and what we’ve lived, we can reduce these feelings at the source.     FEAR: Your new Power Tool

    In order to make changes in your behavior, you must be in a present, positive, and possessed state of mind. Once you do that, changes will be made, and seem like little effort.

    Once you are possessed, identifying and conquering fear is the next step toward a new positive attitude. Fear can be a very limiting emotion when it is used as an excuse to stop moving forward. Which fears are hindering your path to success?

    It’s superbowl time, so let’s imagine you’re the quarterback in the final moments of the 4th quarter of the big game and the score is tied. Feeling the pressure? So what’s running throught your mind? Your team mates are counting on you, your family is so proud of you, and of course millions of viewers are watching you across the nation. Do you see yourself doing the victory dance covered in champagne or back in the locker room with your head in your hands?

    When you are confident in your abilities, your fear and adrenaline will propel you to succeed on the field of life. If you are paralyzed by fear, you have no chance for success. You will either conquer your fears or they will conquer you.

    Many wise statements have been made about fearprobably the most often quoted: ‘You’ve nothing to fear but fear itself,’ but let’s look at this quote by Robert Heller: ‘Fear is excitement without breath.’

    Like the actor back stage who is full of anticipation, charged with adrenaline, and yes afraid, you too can use your fear to drive you. It will make you alert and ready for what happens next on your stage of Life. Without this early alert system you will be unprepared and unable to react to the events that unfold.

    By replacing the word fear with anticipation, you transform the emotion of Fear into a positive driving force that stimulates your imagination and propels you toward success.

    Get to know your fear rather than simply trying to ‘fight’ natural human responses such as Fear is rarely effective.

    Are you a student who is trying to enhance your grades, there are a list of shortcuts that will help you to increase your facility to focus your attention, absorb the data that you study, and recall it during an exam without being tormented by mental blocks or a test phobia. These are the basics of how to create good learning habits:

    (1) Set up an environment for reading and study only in that place! Locate a silent place that will be conducive to concentration without any distractions. Some usual examples would be a library, a vacant classroom, or your office. You want to generate the routine of studying when you are in this place. So it’s best to not use your special place for other activities like daydreaming, socializing, or eating, etc.

    BE SURE YOUR SPECIAL PLACE HAS:

    (a) A comfy chair, but not excessively comfy

    (b) Your desk

    (c) Good light

    (d) Sufficient air flow

    BE SURE YOUR SPECIAL PLACE DOES NOT HAVE:

    (a) Distracting views

    (b) A telephone

    (c) Loud music

    (d) A big screen TV set

    (e) Another person who talks too much

    (f) A refrigerator filled with distractions

    (2) Break up your work into small, short-range projects.

    (a) Set up small specific projects like, "I am going to study my Algebra from 1 PM to 2 PM. Or else you will only set yourself up to fail.

    (b) Set a reachable work goal for the amount of time you are able to set aside. For example: finish reading chapter twelve in my biology text book, or complete a final version of my history paper, etc. Set your goal when you you are ready to start studying but before you actually begin studying. Set doable goals. You may possibly do more than reach your goal, but set a realistic goal even if it seems too easy.

    (3) Test Anxiety

    (a) Some students experience physical symptoms for the most part, like feeling hot or cold, nausea, or faintness, etc.

    (b) Other students experience emotional symptoms for the most part, like feeling irritable, crying, or getting frustrated quickly.

    (c) The main trouble with anxiousness is that it can cause you to have a memory block. Or it could trigger thoughts that are racing out of control.

    (d) Although you may currently feel some level of anxiousness when taking exams, you can learn to greatly diminish that anxiety, or even completely eliminate it!

    (e) Feelings of anxiety and the resultant stress are as a rule the main causes of a lack of ability to focus concentration. Stress can also trigger a mental block when one tries to recollect information.

    (f) Hypnosis CD’s can be utilized to relax your mind and focus your concentration. As your mind calms down, your ability to stay focused will increase. Similarly, a calm mind enhances your ability to retain information, and recall it when it is needed.

Or at least you think yourself into feeling stressed out, and that can be the origin of these behaviors. And since you think and motivate yourself into these behaviors, you can think and motivate yourself out of them as well. But in order to successfully think and motivate yourself out of them, you will need to know specifically how to go about doing so.

    DESIRE: You’re most likely reading this expose for the reason that you want the motivation to make some personal changes. And that’s opportune for the reason that the first element in the "Motivation Formula For Your Success" is that you must want or desire to change. If you have read this far, at least a little part of you desires a change.

    BELIEF IS REQUIRED FOR MOTIVATION: Before anyone can eliminate a negative behavior, that person must be motivated to do so. Merely wanting a behavior to change is not adequate.

    Our motivation comes from what we believe. If we believe that something very important to us will get better or "become enhanced" if we make a change in our behavior, then we will feel motivated. Conversely, if we believe that something very important to us will be placed at risk if we don’t alter our behavior, we will also experience motivation to alter our behavior.

    Some plain examples of these motivational beliefs would be:

    If I take some weight off, then I’ll be able to find a companion.

    If I kick my smoking habit, then I will not have to worry about cancer.

    If I stop my nail biting, then my hands will be a lot prettier.

    TECHNOLOGIES THAT CAN CREATE THE BELIEFS THAT LEAD TO MOTIVATION: Neuro-Linguistic Programming - which is commonly known as NLP, provides strategies that are able to instantaneously produce the element of belief.     DECISION: The dictionary definition of the word "Decision" is making up one’s mind / a verdict or judgment. When you accept as true an idea that provides you with a powerful feeling of motivation to modify your behavior, you will feel a compulsion to make a decision to eliminate a negative behavior. Decision is the key that unlocks the door to compelling action.

    ACTION: The dictionary defines the word "Action" as an act or deed / to do or perform. Taking action means that rather than just thinking about making personal changes, you will actually take action and bring about your desired changes.

    SELF-TALK: One of the many reasons that people are unsuccessful at eliminating a negative behavior is because of the way that they talk to themselves. Self-talk is significant because frequently it is an important part of what caused the negative behavior to begin with.

    I’d like you to think about this for a moment: Let’s say that you want to stop smoking. The first thing that you might say or think to yourself is: "I’m not going to smoke anymore."

    It’s universal for people to tell themselves what they are not going to do. Unfortunately, when we tell ourselves what we are not going to do, we are actually programming ourselves to do it!

    SELF-TALK EXERCISE: Say the following to yourself: I can’t see blue. I can’t see polka dots . . . . . . .

    I’ll bet your mind showed you the color blue, and then it showed you polka dots. That’s because when we tell ourselves what we do not want to do, or what we won’t do, in order to make sense of it our mind must make a movie of us doing whatever it is that we wish to stop doing. And when we imagine ourselves in a behavior, our mind compels us to generate that behavior.

    SUMMARY: In order to modify a negative behavior, we must first want or DESIRE to eliminate it. BELIEF is the element that creates MOTIVATION. MOTIVATION is the drive that compels us to DECISION. DECISION is the means to ACTION. Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a technology that we can use to facilitate beliefs, motivation, decisions, and actions.

    When we tell ourselves what we are not going to do, we make a mental picture of ourselves engaging in the behavior that we want to eliminate. And that mental picture gives us a compulsion to generate the negative behavior. So if we want to get rid of a negative behavior, instead of telling ourselves what we will not do, we must always tell ourselves what we will do.

    To stop smoking say: "I can live without them."

    To eliminate cravings for fattening food or to stop chewing smokeless chewing tobacco say: "I can live without it."

    To eliminate stress say: "I’m relaxed and calm, both mentally and physically."

    To sleep better say: "I fall asleep promptly, and sleep restfully throughout the entire night."
