Weight loss is the decrease of fat, bodily fluids, adipose tissues and lean mass leading to a decrease of body weight. Appetite is an urge to drink and eat for pleasure. It is significantly different from hunger, because you only feel hungry when your body doesn’t have sufficient reserves to sustain itself and consequently signals its need for nourishment.

Appetite is usually mistaken for hunger, but they are two different feelings with different causes. Hunger is a physical alert that your body needs nourishment and it would be unhealthy if you tried to fight it. Appetite, though, is mainly caused by psychological factors and does not answer a physiological need.

Indeed, when stimulated, the mouth is a source of pleasure and comfort, which explains why some people enjoy chewing gum for instance. It is the same reason that might explain why people enjoy having a cigarette in their mouths, or why they can have the impression of being hungry without actually needing food.

This pleasure and comfort may be unconsciously sought after by the mind when facing a stressful situation, which is why anxiety and stress can often cause the desire to eat. Our mind also usually unconsciously associates two actions together, so that each time you do one of those actions your mind creates the desire to do the other at the same time. This is why you might feel the desire to eat when around friends, sitting at a table or when watching television. Weight gain is also a common side effect of several medications.

Even a little appetite issue may be seriously disabling and a possible risk for you health. It cannot only make you gradually more anxious about your physical appearance, but it may also threaten your health in the long run. Excessive appetite can be responsible for obesity, respiratory difficulties, high blood pressure, musculoskeletal problems, and cholesterol as well as potentially lethal conditions such as cancer, diabetes and gallbladder disease.

Having control over your appetite would allow you to easily get significantly healthier and get back in shape. You would not have to constantly worry about keeping a diet anymore, nor about the nutritional properties of your food. You will be able to eat what you want, when you want to.

Several different drugs claiming to help control appetite or lose weight have been sold on the market over the last few years. A lot of those miracle drugs will at best solely have a placebo effect. Others have had better results but sometimes were banned from the market because of their dangerous side effects. Most of those pills have a chemical structure similar to that of amphetamines and present analogous adverse effects. There are nonetheless natural ways of achieving weight loss which, do not present any adverse effects, such as weight loss through hypnotherapy.

Many people will tell you that solely diet or exercise are effective ways of losing weight. This is true to a certain extent, nonetheless it is hardly possible for an active individual to keep a diet or find the time to exercise and it is even harder to find the necessary motivation. Furthermore, neither dieting nor exercise will fight the psychological factors that increase appetite. This means they won’t reduce your appetite, and that you will have to endure this desire to eat all the time, without being able to satisfy it.

This is why weight loss hypnosis has seduced a lot of people trying to lose weight. Weight loss through hypnosis works on the unconscious level of your mind and will help you greatly reduce your appetite. But hypnotherapy weight loss can also give you the motivation you need to go out and exercise. Through suggestion, weight loss hypnosis will help you find this motivation quickly and simply!

Weight loss hypnosis allows you to diminish your appetite in order to lose weight. This means it will be much simpler to lose weight because weight loss through hypnosis will help you to eliminate the unnecessary cravings for nourishment. With hypnotism for weight loss, your unconscious mind will be reprogrammed to follow the eating habits of a naturally thin person. In other words, weight loss hypnosis will use the power of your unconscious to change your eating habits.

Weight loss hypnosis sessions can eliminate the unconscious associations, which can trigger the urge to eat, and will induce appetite reduction. Self hypnosis weight loss, like all methods using hypnosis, will also allow you to become much more relaxed. Weight loss through hypnosis can thus readily relieve you from any urge to eat that might be triggered by anxiety.

To summarize: Even if appetite is often confused with hunger, it does not respond to a physiological need for nourishment but is strongly influenced by our psychological state. As such, weight loss hypnosis is much more effective than diets that only focus on physiological factors. And unlike drugs, it is free of adverse effects. Weight loss through hypnosis is a safe, efficient and effortless method to gain control over your appetite and lose weight.

Are you sick and tired of dieting? Do you lose two pounds and gain back five? Do you get your hopes up every time a new "miracle" diet comes down the pike, only to find out that you still cannot beat your cravings and urges?

What you need is a diet where you take the weight off by sitting in front of the TV. Think it’s a fantasy? Keep reading.

You have probably read and probably heard the data: We as a society are getting fatter than ever. From young to old, the numbers tell the tale: Obesity is epidemic. Why?

There are many explanations, but here is one explanation that I don’t think you’ve heard: We have been programmed, hypnotized–if you will–to purchase and consume more and larger portions of everything, principally junk food, sugary soft drinks and fast food.

How did this happen? What could possibly have such a dominant, insidious effect on so many millions of people? The answer is sitting in your living room. It is your TV.

Yes, advertisers have slowly and purposely hypnotized you. They peddle their empty calories using the most potent and effective advertising medium ever created: TV commercials.

Commercials are carefully crafted to entice and motivate. They can literally make your mouth water as you watch a sizzling steak being delivered to a table or a luscious candy bar being devoured by an overly happy, and shapely actor.

What is happening to you during these commercials? You are being hypnotized! Your mind is being programmed to want…even NEED…a candy bar of your own, right NOW!

The television screen is zoomed in on the candy bar so it dominates the entire TV screen. You can almost see every grain of processed sugar, they get so close!

And guess what? You are probably salivating right now, at this very moment, just from this description? Your mind has conjured up images memorized deep in your unconscious from when you watched TV commercials long ago. Can you see how powerful the video images on TV can be? Yes, they can control even your physical reactions!

If you’re familiar with hypnosis, then you know that it’s the alpha level of consciousness. You pass through this dream like state of mind as you fall asleep at night. And you pass through this daydream like state again as you wake up in the morning. Research has proven that if you watch much TV, you are in this alpha state for two-thirds of your viewing time. What can you do to conquer this programming?

First, of course, you can stop watching TV commercials. But what about the programming that advertisers have already embedded in your mind? How do you remove it and reprogram your thoughts? Video hypnosis made you put the weight on, and video weight loss hypnosis will provide your solution.

If you have read this far and you still think that I am joking, I can assure you that I am not! Video lose weight hypnosis is a reality and a United States Patent was granted on the methodology! Here is a semi-technical explanation of why and how it works:

The average person feels oral cravings and oral urges for two main reasons: A. When you feel tense, you feel compelled to put something into your mouth because it provides relaxation and pleasure.

    B. When a woman pairs eating with any other behavior, the other behavior will trigger cravings and a compulsion to eat.

Let us talk about Part "B" first. Over 70% of the population learns much more quickly and easily by seeing, rather then by what they hear. Think about it: If you feel an urge to eat or smoke when watching TV, it’s because your unconscious recorded the video image of either food in your hand, or a cigarette in your hand, and then associated that mental image, with the mental picture of the TV. From that point on, every time that you watch TV, your unconscious mind flashes the image of the food or cigarette in your hand, and you get cravings and urges.

So you have actually "programmed" your subconscious to make you feel cravings and urges as a "conditioned response" to watching TV. The same thing happens when you eat when you watch a movie, or when you talk on the phone, etc.

Video weight loss hypnosis will snuff out the conditioned responses. It will program your subconscious to have the TV (or whatever) trigger unconscious images of you watching the TV without eating.

When the video weight loss hypnosis makes you lose your unconscious image of food, you lose your appetite. When you see yourself in a behavior, you get a compulsion to generate that behavior. So after watching video lose weight hypnosis, you will actually get a compulsion to reject food when you watch TV.

But what about Part "A"? Our feelings of tension are created by our thoughts. If you think upsetting thoughts, you experience tension and upset. If you think cheerful thoughts, you feel happy and cheerful.

If you think an unpleasant thought while you are sitting at your computer, your mind can associate that thought with the computer. And thereafter, when you sit down at your computer, you have a conditioned response, your mind flashes to that upsetting thought and you feel tense.

The techniques used in video weight loss hypnosis are based on Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). This technology works based on the utilization of a person’s existing thought processes instead of post-hypnotic suggestion. With NLP, we use the thought processes that are creating your symptoms, to eliminate your symptoms.

Video lose weight hypnosis can program your unconscious to use upsetting thoughts as a trigger for soothing thoughts. So if you start to think of something that is upsetting, your unconscious will automatically change to a soothing thought in a millisecond. You become relaxed, so there are no feelings of tension to cause you to feel oral cravings or urges. And without an appetite to overeat, it’s easy for you to lose weight and keep it off permanently. Medical research has proven that all of the popular diets work well. But it has also proven that most people fail with these diets because they can’t stick to them because their appetite is out of control!

THE DEFINITION OF SELF-HYPNOSIS: The state of hypnosis is a condition of hyper-suggestibility where the conscious mind and the unconscious mind disconnect. It is an altered state of consciousness where the hypnotized person is more likely to believe the operator’s suggestions.

You have been in hypnosis many times in the past without even recognizing the state. If you’ve ever watched a sad television show and reacted with a tear in your eye, you have been in a state of hypnosis. You entered a state of amplified suggestibility where you uncritically accepted the idea of gloom on the TV screen and reacted with a sad emotion, your tear. In other words, your reasoning ability, which is contained in your conscious mind, was bypassed. You did not reason that the show was just a play; you accepted the drama as being authentic. So you reacted with real emotion and shed a tear.

WHO CAN BE PLACED IN HYPNOSIS? Hypnotherapists have found that all normal people are hypnotizable to a greater or lesser extent. People with an I.Q. of under 70 generally cannot be hypnotized. People who are in an active state of psychosis usually cannot be hypnotized. Senile people are usually impossible to hypnotize. I have found in my own professional practice dealing with many retired people up to 85, that self-hypnosis is a effective and beneficial system for most people. An individual’s motivation is the key to success.

DO I HAVE TO BE A "DEEP" HYPNOTIC SUBJECT FOR SUCCESS? For the restorative applications of self-hypnosis we most often deal with, depth of any kind isn’t required. A subject can be the lightest possible subject and still receive all of the benefits from self-hypnosis that the deepest subjects will obtain. I strongly believe that over the years, far too much importance has been placed on how deep a subject can go. If the client is deep, it could be beneficial. This however, is not necessarily the case. In fact, with the latest hypnotic techniques like Ericksonian self-hypnosis and state of the art "NLP" (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), hypnotic depth is one of the least significant aspects, which contribute to a successful outcome.

ARE THERE ANY DANGERS IN SELF-HYPNOSIS? There are fundamentally no dangers to the practice of self-hypnosis. It is impossible to "get stuck" in self-hypnosis. The most awful thing that could possibly happen while a client is in hypnosis is that she might fall into a natural state of sleep for twenty or thirty minutes. She would wake up rested and no longer in a state of self-hypnosis.

MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT SELF-HYPNOSIS: There are many misnomers about self-hypnosis. Most of them are due to stage and television shows. Paradoxically, it’s on account of the fact that the television can hypnotize you that these misnomers are so well-established in people’s minds.

IS SELF-HYPNOSIS SLEEP? The largest misconception about self-hypnosis is that it’s a state of sleep. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you are asleep, you are unconscious. If you are unconscious, you cannot hear anything. If you cannot hear anything, then the hypnotherapist cannot help you. Hypnosis is a state of keen awareness. The subject is wide-awake and aware of everything around her. This misconception comes from the stage Hypnotist’s use of the word "sleep" as equivalent to the hypnotic state. When the old time hypnotist swung a watch in front of the subject’s face, he told the subject that she was getting "sleepy." Then he told the subject to "go to sleep." What he meant was to go into a hypnotic sleep, not a natural sleep.

IS THERE A HYPNOTIZED FEELING? The second largest misconception is that there is a hypnotized feeling. There is no specific hypnotized feeling. I repeat there is no specific hypnotized feeling. Most people feel very relaxed when in hypnosis, as relaxation seems to be the essence of hypnotism. Some people feel heavy. Some people feel light. Some people have other sensations and feelings. Other people have absolutely no feeling that they are in a state of hypnosis, and believe they haven’t been hypnotized when they most definitely have.

CAN THE HYPNOTIST TAKE CONTROL OF ME? NO! The hypnotherapist cannot force you to do anything against your will. There is always an observing ego state. Should the therapist make an offensive suggestion; this ego state would reject the suggestion. Additionally, you will probably come out of self hypnosis if the hypnotist makes an offensive suggestion to you.

CAN THE HYPNOTIST MAKE ME DIVULGE MY SECRETS? You won’t reveal any secrets while in hypnosis unless you want to do so. The hypnotist doesn’t have any control over the subject. Quite the contrary, the subject has more control over herself since at this time she can directly communicate with her own unconscious mind. The subject can easily decline any suggestion the hypnotist makes, no matter how simple or complicated the suggestion might be. The subject can open her eyes, exit from the state of self hypnosis, and walk out of the room at any time she chooses.

MUST PEOPLE TELL THE TRUTH WHEN IN SELF-HYPNOSIS? NO! People can lie when in hypnosis.

DO HYPNOTISTS HAVE SUPERNATURAL POWERS? This is a common misnomer. The hypnotist doesn’t have any special powers, nor does he have any special vibrations with which to hypnotize you into a state of hypnosis. Actually, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The hypnotist leads the subject into a state of self-hypnosis. In other words, the ability of self hypnosis is within the subject.

WHY DO PEOPLE FAIL TO REACH THEIR GOALS USING SELF-HYPNOSIS? Perhaps the chief reason for the inability to reach one’s goals through self-hypnosis is an insufficient amount of practice where self-hypnosis is concerned.

The greatest reason for the return of a symptom or "relapse" is the premature discontinuance of self-hypnosis with the Hypno-therapist or recorded program. While self-hypnosis is important, it is generally the hetero-hypnosis with the hypnotist or hypnosis recording which has the greatest impact upon the unconscious mind.

This is because of the training and experience that the hypnotist has vs. the lack of training and experience of the client. Some people are penny wise and pound-foolish. They mentally set an amount of money that they are willing to spend for help. And then they prematurely stop their sessions because; "I didn’t lose 50 Lbs. in two days, so it isn’t working."

If a therapeutic method is really helping one to make positive changes, then it is priceless and it should be sustained. It is for this reason that it is wise to have follow up self-hypnosis sessions, even after a symptom seems to have disappeared completely. Self-hypnosis should be an ongoing affair on a daily basis. Ultimately, YOUR SUCCESS IS UP TO YOU!

WILL I BE BETTER OFF HIRING A HYPNOTIST, OR WILL PURCHASING A RECORDED PROGRAM WORK BETTER? That is a wonderful question. Normally I would recommend that you use the services of a reputable hypnotist. The reason is that by meeting with you, a good hypnotist / NLP’er will be able to customize his approach to your personality and your favored representational system — the way you favor taking in information through your senses to make sense out of it and react to it.

In my opinion, 99% of the recorded self-hypnosis tapes available at this time are based on Traditional Hypnosis, and consist of only one or maybe two sessions of it at that. Traditional Hypnosis is nothing more than a set of direct suggestions: "If you eat a brownie you’ll vomit." "You will not have cravings," and so forth. This technology has an unbelievably poor track record of success because everyone of our generation has been trained to question everything they are told. That’s why you, your friends, and your kids usually do the opposite of what they are told to do. This is called a polarity response.

That being said, having private sessions with any hypnotist / NLP’er who has enough experience to be able to actually help you can cost a great deal of money. There are some hypnotic programs on the market based on Ericksonian Hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) that have overcome those shortcomings. They’ve accomplished this by using a mix of Traditional Hypnosis, Ericksonian Hypnosis, NLP, and the highly regarded Video Hypnosis technology.

These are all modalities that are designed to overcome the resistance factor. In fact, Video Hypnosis and the NLP technology that it’s based on do not utilize post-hypnotic suggestions at all. They rely on using the thought processes that have created a problem, to eliminate it!

Look for vendors who offer these methodologies in multi-session products. These are programs that generally have six to eight different hypnosis or NLP sessions, so the subject is exposed to a broad range of methodologies. It takes a lot of work to make this type of program, but the high success rates achieved are well worth the effort.

I recommend that you stay away from the "one size fits all" — "do-or-die" self-hypnosis CDs and downloads. Many are attracted to these CDs because they are cheap, usually under $10.00. But is it cheap if it just wastes your valuable time and does not work?

If you try a program and it does not work, then you get distrustful and start to expect the next approach to fail. And you get what you expect. Do you really think that the same exact suggestions will work for everyone? Do you think that they will work for you? Do you always do exactly as you are told to do? Or do you feel a strong desire to do the opposite of what you are told to do?

One of the most common symptoms of stress or depression is Insomnia. Whether you wake up during the night and have a hard time falling back to sleep, or you have a hard time falling asleep initially, you have insomnia.

THERE ARE FOUR TYPES OF INSOMNIA

PSYCHO-REACTIVE INSOMNIA: Psycho-reactive Insomnia is generally caused by tension. Worry is the most common reason that the person seems to be stuck in the "awake" mode. The worry can become compounded when the Insomnia suffer begins to worry about falling asleep. Insomnia sufferers often worry that they may become ill or die from lack of sleep.

ENDOGENOUS INSOMNIA: This is generally caused by a discomfort within the body ranging from pain to indigestion.

EXOGENOUS INSOMNIA: This is caused by non-physical disturbances such as noise or a partner’s snoring. This is the easiest type of sleep disturbance to beat.

FUNCTIONAL INSOMNIA: This is caused by a functional problem in the subject’s sleep-wakefulness center in the brain.

Many people who suffer from a sleep disturbance develop an irrational fear of getting into bed because they expect to lie awake. This expectancy will cause insomnia all by itself

    HERE ARE THE FACTS

    1. No person became ill or died from lack of sleep. The body and mind will get at least the minimum amount of sleep that it needs, no matter what. If you don’t get enough sleep one night the next night you will get some additional sleep to make up the loss.

    2. Our internal clock brings about a valley of fatigue in cycles. Every four to six hours you will experience your maximum fatigue, and this is when it’s easiest to fall asleep. After that you will experience a renewed feeling of energy and it will become difficult to fall asleep.

    3. Many people are sure that they haven’t slept a wink, but research in sleep labs has proven that everyone sleeps during the night. Sometimes you think that you’ve been lying awake thinking, but actually you have been sleeping lightly and dreaming.

    4. Trying to fall asleep: There is a law of nature called The Law of Reversed Effect. It says that if you try to do something, you will get the opposite. And the harder you try, the more you will get the opposite. So, trying to fall asleep will insure that you will remain awake. Do not "try" to fall asleep.

    5. Alcohol will put you to sleep: This may be true; as alcohol is a depressant. However, as soon as it wears off, you will awaken abruptly and it will be much harder to fall asleep.

    6. Sleeping pills can help: During sleep it is the dream phase in which you get your rest. Sleeping pills suppress the dream phase of sleep (REM sleep). That is why one generally awakens more tired than before going to sleep after using pills.

    EFFECTING A CURE

    1. figure out when you feel most exhausted in the evening. From that point forward, every evening at least an hour before that time, take a bath that is slightly warmer than body temperature for 20 minutes. A shower won’t have the intended effect.

    2. Have a warm beverage, preferably not coffee or tea because of the caffeine which will wake you up. Warm milk is the best if you can tolerate it.

    3. Discontinue thoughts of problems that you have. Do not think about what you need to do tomorrow. If you are worried about forgetting what you have to do tomorrow, write it down.

    4. Refrain from stimulating thoughts and TV. If you must read, then read something that is uninteresting.

    5. Reserve your bed for sleep. Read and watch television only from a chair or couch.

    6. Get into bed at least 20 minutes before your valley of fatigue. Once in bed, if worries begin to pop into your mind, repeat several times to yourself, "I’ll think about it tomorrow." This will help to eliminate excessive thinking. Do not try to make your mind blank and don’t try to fall asleep. Just allow yourself to rest.

    7. For Endogenous Insomnia, you should eliminate the discomfort to the best of your ability.

    8. For Exogenous Insomnia, make the room as quiet as possible. If your partner snores, you can move to another room. Running a fan motor can also help induce sleep, as it will tend to cover up outside noises. The monotonous drone of the fan generally proves to be very relaxing.

HYPNOSIS FOR INSOMNIA - PSYCHO-REACTIVE AND FUNCTIONAL INSOMNIA

Practice hypnosis for insomnia every day. Stress exacerbates and can even cause a sleep disorder. Self-hypnosis can help you to quickly dissipate stress. Post-hypnotic suggestions for coping, and to instill the expectation of sleep can help. "I fall asleep promptly, and sleep soundly and restfully all through the night."

There are three separate parts to a dipping habit. Two of the elements are emotional/mental, and one part is physical.

Part A: YOU DIP FOR RELAXATION AND PLEASURE.

When you were a tot and you got restless, your mother would put a pacifier into your mouth to pacify you. You would get distracted, become mellower, and often go to sleep. That sequence of events was repeated dozens of times so that your unconscious mind was programmed: When something goes into your mouth, you get relaxation and pleasure from it.

Now that you are a grownup, if you feel nervous or tense, you crave something in your mouth for relaxation and pleasure - dip!

Part B: DIPPING IS A CONDITIONED RESPONSE.

Remember Pavlov? Every time that he fed his dogs he rang a bell. After several repetitions, he would just ring the bell, and that would make the dogs salivate.

When you pair dipping tobacco with any other behavior, the other behavior will trigger cravings for tobacco and a urge to dip tobacco. This is called a conditioned response.

For example: If you dip tobacco when you see a cup of coffee, you will automatically get an urge to dip tobacco each time you have a cup of coffee.

Here is exactly how this conditioned response gets programmed into your subconscious: If a person dips smokeless tobacco and simultaneously drinks a cup of coffee, the mind takes a picture of the tobacco in the hand, and ties it to the cup of coffee. Thereafter, every time the person sees a cup of coffee, her unconscious mind fills in the missing part of the picture. It flashes an image of the chew, and the dipper gets a craving for smokeless.

You may not be consciously aware of the mental picture of the smokeless, because it may only be at the subconscious level of mind. Just as you are not consciously aware of what you are seeing through your peripheral vision until something draws your attention to it. But the image is there, creating a craving for smokeless.

Part C: THERE IS A PHYSICAL ADDICTION TO NICOTINE, BUT . . .

I’ve worked one-on-one with several thousand people for tobacco addiction and I can guarantee you that the physical addiction to smokeless is the weakest part of the addiction to smokeless. In fact, I believe that it is only ten percent of the addiction to smokeless. I believe that ninety percent of the habit are the mental and emotional parts! (Parts A and B).

HERE IS WHAT THIS MEANS TO A PERSON WHO DIPS SMOKELESS AND WHO WANTS TO QUIT.

What this means is that when you eliminate the feeling of tension that causes you to chew smokeless for relaxation and pleasure (Part A) . . . and when you erase the conditioned response of feeling compulsions for smokeless tobacco when having a cup of coffee, driving, or finishing a meal, etc. (Part B) . . . then you can give up smokeless without requiring willpower, and without having to suffer from withdrawal symptoms or gaining weight.

Self-hypnosis will make it easy to stop chewing because it takes care of Parts A & B! Here is how:

Part A is where people dip smokeless for relaxation and pleasure. It’s our thoughts that create feelings of stress. More specifically, people always play mental movies in their mind’s eye. If the movie is negative, it brings on a feeling of stress.

We can use different NLP and Hypnosis methods to re-program the unconscious mind to quickly and easily take those tension creating mental movies, and instantly exchange them for relaxation producing mental pictures and movies. This instills relaxation and pleasure, and obliterates the tension that creates the oral cravings and compulsions for dipping.

Because of the elimination of feelings of tension, the person who is quitting doesn’t feel the compulsion or need to substitute food in place of the dip. So quitting without weight gain is possible.

Part B is where you chew because dipping becomes a conditioned response to many different activities and locations. Remember in the earlier example how smoking became unconsciously associated with other activities and environments so that each time you get into that activity or environment, the mind flashes an image of smokeless, and the image of the smokeless creates cravings for smokeless?

There are efficient and powerful hypnosis techniques that can quickly extinguish those conditioned responses so that your subconscious mind will lose the cravings for smokeless tobacco, and the compulsion to chew smokeless. As a matter of fact, you can even get a compulsion to reject chewing.

    IN SUMMATION

To summarize, when we utilize certain hypnotic and NLP techniques, it becomes very easy to stop chewing without withdrawal or weight gain. And many of these methodologies don’t even depend on post-hypnotic suggestions. They depend on programming the subconscious mind to use the same thought processes that the subconscious is using to create the dipping habit, to eliminate the mental addiction.

Self-confidence is a mentality, which allows people to have positive, yet realistic views of the themselves and their position. Self-confident people have confidence in their own know-how, have a general sense of control over their lives, and have confidence that, within reason, they will be able to do what they want to do.

Self-confidence is a disposition that is learned through experiences. When a person experiences success, that person will tend to expect to be successful. And that expectation will cause a feeling of confidence.

For example: A man wants to be an extreme fighter, so he gets a manager and a trainer. His manager will not put him into the ring until he has generated enough skill and stamina. And even then, the manager will only put him up against a contender that he knows his fighter can crush. When his fighter beats the competitor, he is successful, and starts to gain a feeling of confidence in his proficiency.

With each competition, the manager puts his warrior up against a contender who is a slightly better competitor then the last, but not good enough to beat his man. By the end of the third fight, the young competitor begins to expect to win his fourth, and so his confidence continues to improve. This series of events continues to repeat itself. And as long as the competitor continues to win, his expectations of success, and his feelings of self-confidence will continue to improve.

If a person who has a long history of success and feelings of self-confidence does fail, they still tend to expect success the next time out. Conversely, when a person who is weak in the self-confidence department fails, they tend to lose confidence, and begin to expect failure, which can become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Having true self-confidence doesn’t mean that individuals will be able to do everything. People, who have true self-confidence, usually have expectations that are down-to-earth. Even when some of their expectations are not met, they continue to be positive and to accept themselves.

People, who are not self-confident, tend to lean excessively on the agreement of others in order to feel good about themselves. They avoid risks because of the fear of failure. They belittle themselves and tend to discount or ignore compliments that they do receive.

Conversely, secure people will risk the disapproval of other people because they generally have faith in their own aptness. Just because a person does not have confidence, it does not mean that he/she doesn’t have abilities. A lack of self-esteem is often the result of centering too strongly on the unrealistic expectations of other people, especially those of friends and parents. The domination of friends can be more powerful than those of parents in shaping the feelings about one’s self.

Beliefs That Continue to Influence Self-Confidence

In response to external influences, people develop assumptions; some of these are good, and some are bad. Several assumptions that can interfere with self-confidence and better ways of thinking are:

ASSUMPTION: It’s imperative that I am successful at everything that I do. This assumption is unrealistic. In real life, each person has her strengths and her weaknesses. While it’s important to learn to do the best that one can, it’s more important to learn to accept the self as being human, and fallible. Feel good about what you are good at, and accept the fact that no one knows everything nor are they an expert at everything.

ASSUMPTION: I must be perfect, and loved by everyone, and satisfy everyone. Again, this assumption is unrealistic. All human beings are flawed. It’s better to develop personal standards and values that are not completely dependent on the approval of others.

ASSUMPTION: Everything that happened to me in the past remains in control of my feelings and behaviors in the present.

ALTERNATIVE: While it is true that your confidence was especially influenced by external influences when you were a very young child, as you grow to adulthood, you can gain knowledgeunderstanding and outlook on what those influences have been. In doing so, you can choose which influences you will continue to allow to have an effect on your life. You don’t have to be helpless based on what happened in the past. HERE ARE SOME STRATEGIES FOR DEVELOPING CONFIDENCE

Emphasize your strengths. Grant yourself credit for everything you can do. And give yourself credit for every new adventure that you are willing to experience.

Take risks. Adopt the perspective of: I never fail, because there are NO failures. However, sometimes I learn what does not work, and once I’ve learned what doesn’t work in a given situation, I can attempt something else.

Use Self-Talk: Talk to yourself in positive terms to counter harmful assumptions. Then, tell yourself to stop. Substitute more reasonable assumptions. For example, when you catch yourself expecting perfection, remind yourself that it’s impossible to do everything perfectly, and that it’s only possible to do things to the best of your ability. This allows you to accept yourself as you are striving to improve.

Make mental movies: Visualize yourself in the various scenarios that you currently lack confidence in. But see yourself behaving as like a person who has tremendous self-confidence would. There are powerful NLP and self-hypnosis processes that are effective and will instill a monumental amount of self-confidence from within your subconscious mind. There are even NLP techniques that will let you take confidence that you do have in areas of your life, and then transplant that confidence to areas of your life that are lacking confidence!

Self-Evaluate: Learn to appraise yourself independently. Circumvent the constant sense of chaos that comes from relying too much on the opinions of others.

There are 3 distinct factors to the addiction to smoking cigarettes. Two of the components are mental/emotional, and one part is physical.

Part A: YOU SMOKE FOR RELAXATION AND PLEASURE.

When you were an infant and you got cranky, your mother would put a bottle into your mouth to distract you from that upset. You would get distracted, become calm, and often go to asleep. That scenario was repeated thousands of times so that your unconscious mind was programmed: When something goes into your mouth, you get relaxation and pleasure from it.

Now that you are mature, if you feel tense or anxious, you crave something in your mouth for relaxation and pleasure - a cigarette!

Part B: SMOKING IS A CONDITIONED RESPONSE.

Remember Pavlov? He rang a bell every time that he fed his dogs. After a few repetitions, he could just ring the bell, and that would make the dogs salivate.

When you associate smoking with any other activity, the other activity will trigger cravings for a cigarette and a urge to light up. This is called a conditioned response.

For example: If you light-up when you watch a movie, you will automatically get an urge to smoke a cigarette each time you go to the movies.

Here is exactly how this conditioned response gets programmed into your unconscious: If a person smokes a cigarette and simultaneously drinks a cup of coffee, the mind takes a picture of the cigarette in the hand, and links it to the cup of coffee. Thereafter, every time the person sees a cup of coffee, the unconscious mind fills in the missing part of the picture. It flashes an image of a cigarette, and the smoker gets a craving for a cigarette.

You may not be consciously aware of the mental movie of the cigarette, because it may only be at the unconscious level of mind. Just as you are not consciously aware of what you are seeing through your peripheral vision until someone draws your attention to it. But the image is there, creating a craving for a cigarette.

Part C: THERE IS A PHYSICAL ADDICTION TO NICOTINE, BUT . . .

I have had the experience of working with several thousand people for smoke cessation and I guarantee you that the physical addiction to tobacco is the weakest part of the smoking habit. In fact, I believe that it is only ten percent of the addiction. The strongest parts of the addiction are the mental and emotional parts! (Parts A and B).

HERE IS WHAT THIS MEANS TO A SMOKER WHO WANTS TO QUIT.

What this means is that as soon as you eliminate the feeling of tension that pushes you to put cigarettes into your mouth for relaxation and pleasure (Part A) . . . and if you can extinguish the conditioned response of feeling compulsions for cigarettes when having a cup of coffee, driving, or finishing a meal, etc. (Part B) . . . then you can break the addiction to tobacco without requiring willpower, and without experiencing withdrawal symptoms or weight-gain.

Self-hypnosis will make it easy to break the addiction to tobacco because it takes care of Parts A & B! Here is how:

Part A is where smokers light-up for relaxation and pleasure. It’s our thoughts that create feelings of stress. More specifically, people invariably create mental movies in their mind’s eye. If the movie is negative, it brings on a feeling of tension. We can use different NLP and Hypnosis methods to train the subconscious mind to instantly take those anxiety producing mental images, and instantly exchange them for relaxation producing mental pictures and movies. This creates relaxation and pleasure, and eliminates the anxiety that creates the oral compulsions and cravings for cigarettes.

Because of the elimination of stress, the smoker who is quitting does not experience the compulsion or need to substitute food in place of the cigarettes. So quitting without weight gain is possible.

Part B is where smokers light-up because smoking becomes a conditioned response to many different activities and locations. Remember in the earlier example how smoking became unconsciously associated with other activities and environments so that each time smokers get into that activity or environment, the mind flashes an image of a cigarette, and the image of the cigarette triggers an urge to smoke?

There are efficient and powerful NLP techniques that can effectively eliminate those conditioned responses so that a smoker’s subconscious mind will lose the cravings for cigarettes, and the compulsion to smoke. As a matter of fact, you can even get a compulsion to reject the cigarettes.

    IN SUMMATION

To summarize, when we utilize certain hypnotic and NLP techniques, it becomes very easy to quit smoking without weight gain or having to suffer from withdrawal. And many of these techniques do not even require post-hypnotic suggestions. They depend on training the subconscious mind to use the same mental processes that the unconscious mind is using to create the smoking habit, to eliminate the mental addiction.
