Internet jobs have been attracting entrepreneurs who want to earn money for many years. There are many different ways to earn money with internet jobs, including ad revenues, sales, and work that can be done at home such as data entry.

A popular way to earn money passively is by collecting revenue from online ads. The owner of a website can successfully drive traffic to the site where visitors then click on the ads. A portion of revenues collected from click-throughs are paid from the advertiser back to the site owner. The owner need only to maintain the website and, of course, drive traffic to it and generate revenue.

The online store is one of the popular Internet business models. These models are included in active income streams. This method requires considerable effort as compared to the passive strategy being adopted in shop sales. This was made popular through online auction sites. The cost of business operation is also high since it involves constant listing, invoicing and shipping of physical goods. In case of bulky or fragile goods or items susceptible for high rate of returns or exchanges the costs become prohibitive thereby affecting your bottom line.

Telecommuting jobs are starting to become a common place amongst job listing websites. However, these positions are likely to be lower level or part time jobs. Jobs can include at home data entry which can offer great hours, but the pay is likely below the going rate even for office work. Contracted work, according to 1099 section of the IRS, allows pay to be lower than the minimum requirement.

Since the Internet is barely a decade old, many countries’ labor laws have yet to address such workers, which can be found across the globe along with the Internet’s rapid spread. For example, there are “gold farmers” in China, many of them teenagers, harvesting virtual resources in massive multiplayer online role-playing games, working 12 hour shifts for a few cents an hour.

As the Internet has become an ever greater presence in our workplaces and lives, the number of jobs available over the Internet has steadily grown. You need only an internet connection and the dedication to do steady work to land one of these jobs and make steady income, all without ever setting foot in an office or going to work.
