It appears that many people are currently selling private label rights, or PLR, eBooks today. This may not be a bad thing; however, be sure to consider several points before buying private label rights eBooks to use on your website.

Although some private label rights eBooks allow YOU to profit financially, many others only benefit the individual responsible for their development. Some books are considered brandable, while the purchase of others includes Master Resale rights.

If you are interested in purchasing PLR eBooks, this is what you can expect from each different type:

Private Label Rights, or PLR eBooks: Purchase these and resell them or give them away as bonuses. Make sure to read the fine print in the license agreement, however. Frequently, these eBooks may only be used for a certain amount of time. Sometimes you can sell them and make a profit. You might also choose to give them as bonus freebies to new subscribers who decide to opt-in to your website. The majority of private label rights eBooks that are sold cannot be changed, and usually include links back to the creator’s website. If you do decide to purchase these PLR books, you will reap the benefits of adding new people to your subscription list; however, the original distributor will also benefit from free traffic to his or her website - through yours!

Master Resale Rights: Most books that fit this description allow the new owner to change a few things in the book and then sell them to someone else. This form of PLR eBook is more beneficial than the previous kind of PLR eBook because these contain a file that you are able to change. Be careful to check though, because some do not. If this original file is not contained in the book, the license is still useful because both the graphics and the sales letter have already been prepared. Posting this eBook on your website and making a profit from it can usually be done fairly quickly. This book will probably contain both the name and the website of the original distributor, so that site will still benefit from free traffic through your site’s visitors.

Brandable eBooks: This type of eBook is the most useful of all. Most of these are not purchased with a complete set of graphics, but you ARE able to include your Affiliate link in the PDF file and keep all of the affiliate profits you acquire. Additionally, most contain a graphic of the eBook itself, so you won’t have to develop cover graphics to place on your website.

I did run into a bad type of brandable eBook the other day. I purchased a brandable eBook and there was one link that was brandable in the eBook. However, there were also about TEN other links in the eBook that were NOT brandable. What’s up with that! I dumped that brandable book immediately! Sure, it would be good to get an affiliate sale from my one link, but all of those other links were branded with someone else’s affiliate link, which I didn’t think was fair at all!

Unfortunately, there’s no way to know if this is the case or not until you have purchased the brandable eBook, unless it’s specifically stated on the sales page.

Now you should have enough information about brandable eBooks to make a wise decision. Your choice will depend on what you want to do with the brandable book or PLR. Just remember that your visitors will probably keep this eBook for a long time, and it’s always good to know that YOUR affiliate link is ready and waiting for them in your Brandable eBook.
